Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Seats were filled Thursday morning at St. Mary of The Assumption Church in Binghamton for Christina Rumpel Powell's memorial service.
Less than one week ago, she and a friend were found dead at her home, victims of homicide.
Hundreds of Christina's friends and family filled the church to pay their respects.
There was not a dry eye in the building once the service got underway.
During the homily, Father Ward asked all in attendance to come together and pray for her.
He sprinkled the casket with holy water, bringing her back to her baptism where he says the journey to heaven began.
Also speaking was Marisa Rogers, who asked everyone to close their eyes and remember Christina
After the service, the congregation filed quietly onto Court Street as her casket was carried out.
Dozens of cars left for Calvary Cemetery in Johnson City, where Christina was laid to rest.
