Peeling Potatoes Preparing for Parade

Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) The St. Patrick's Parade is Saturday in Binghamton. Many people involved in some way are busy Friday getting ready.

Volunteers at the House of Reardon were busy peeling 250 pounds of potatoes and 100 pounds of carrots.

The pub will be offering its famous ham and cabbage dinner. It's expecting a big crowd Saturday.

The House of Reardon is the oldest Irish pub in Broome County.

Parade day is one of its most important for the business, and friends who come together at Reardon's.

"It's even bigger than St. Patrick's Day now," said Bob Norris, owner of the House of Reardon. "The last three years have been the biggest day of the year. So, every year when we get to Parade Day, it's like Spring has sprung for us."

"Everybody's upbeat and positive. It doesn't matter what the weather conditions are. They'll still come out strong," Norris said. "We're ready for everyone to come on down, and we'll be here."

The parade starts at 1:30 at Court and Fayette Streets and continues to Arthur and Main.
