(WBNG Binghamton) Action News learns new information about the DWI charge against one of Binghamton's highest ranking police officers.
Captain John Shea, Binghamton's supervisor of detectives was charged on Sunday following a crash.
Binghamton Police Chief Joe Zikuski says Shea was driving a city vehicle and hit a tree between the curb and sidewalk at 1174 Vestal Avenue.
The accident occurred around 4:30 p.m. Sunday when Shea was not on duty.
Shea is scheduled to be arraigned on the misdemeanor charge later this month.
He is suspended from duty without pay.
