Endicott Police arrest stabbing suspect

Endicott, NY (WBNG Binghamton) An off-duty Endicott policeman arrested a man who allegedly stabbed another.

Police responded around 9:30 p.m. to 301 Nanticoke Ave. Wednesday night after hearing reports of a fight involving a knife.

They found a man who had been stabbed in the back several blocks away.

Paramedics took the victim to Wilson Hospital, where he was treated and released.

According to police, Cody Austin, 18, of the Nanticoke Avenue address, fled the scene on foot.

An off-duty Endicott officer returning home from the search found Austin walking on Nanticoke Avenue.

The officer called for backup, and crews arrested Austin on the 100 block of Jennings Avenue.

Police charged Austin with one count of assault in the second degree, a class D felony.

According to police, Austin and the victim are acquaintances with an ongoing dispute.

New York State Police and the Broome County Sheriff's K-9 Unit assisted in the investigation.
