(WBNG Binghamton) The New York State Department of Transportation announced that, crews will be conducting rock excavation operations along Prospect Mountain in the City of Binghamton, Broome County.
Work will occur on Monday, July 30, through Thursday, August 2, between 10:30 a.m. and 12 p.m.
At one point between those hours traffic will experience rolling slow-downs administered by New York State Police on Interstate 81 southbound starting at exit 6 (Chenango Bridge); Interstate 81 northbound and State Route 17 westbound starting at exit 2 (Industrial Park); State Route 17 eastbound starting at exit 71 (Airport Road); and Interstate 88 westbound starting at exit 2 (Chenango Bridge). Motorists on Front Street, Prospect Street, and all side roads will be guided by flag personnel.
Motorists are reminded that fines are doubled for work zone infractions. In accordance with the Work Zone Safety Act of 2005, convictions of two or more violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of the driver's license.
