Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Binghamton welcomed it's first baby of the New Year at 1:20 a.m. at Lourdes Hospital.
Aidan Pichardo is a healthy 7 pounds, 10 ounces, and is about 20 inches. Aidan made a fast appearance into this world without giving his mother a lot of trouble.
"He was pretty easy. I was like, wow. That's all it was? Just a total of two hours," said Aidan's mother, Diana.
A step in the right direction as far as Aidan's mother Diana is concerned. She was in labor with her first child for 36 hours. But that was 12 years ago, so the experience of having Aidan felt brand new.
"This is my second in 12 years, so it's like the first time all over again. I was like, oh boy. And my daughter was like, it's about time, Mommy," said Pichardo.
Diana's first child, Lillian, who wasn't there when we visited, was overjoyed when her new little brother entered the world.
"She was emotional when she saw him. She started crying. She goes, 'now that I see him and he's not in your belly like a bowling ball,' she goes, 'wow, that little guy is out,'" said Pichardo.
The fact that they might have the New Year's baby didn't register with Diana and the baby's father, Rotsalenh Sisana right away. They were too caught up in the moment.
"The time went by really quickly after I got back from eating. I didn't even realize that it hit 12 o'clock. I got here at 11:15. 12 o'clock came and past, didn't know what time it was," said Sisana.
Diana wasn't expecting Aidan to arrive when she went in for a routine exam, but arrive he did, as Binghamton's first baby of 2013.
