Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A Port Crane man accused of raping a 14-year-old girl in June was in Broome County Court Tuesday.

Michael Degnan, 39, pleaded not guilty and was assigned a new attorney based on a conflict of interest.

In June, he spent nearly a week on the run after raping the teen in the Town of Fenton before being taken into custody.

A Broome County grand jury handed up an indictment on charges in September, including one count of first-degree rape, one count of second-degree rape, two counts of criminal sex acts in the first degree and two in the second degree and one count of endangering the welfare of a child.

He was also indicted on second-degree burglary, criminal trespass, two counts of second-degree grand larceny and petit larceny, after breaking into a home in the town of Fenton and stealing a truck for his getaway back in June.

Degnan remains in the Broome County Jail. His next court appearance hasn't been scheduled at this time.
