Johnson City, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Labor Day weekend marks the unofficial end of summer and there's no better way to celebrate than at Johnson City Field Days.

The 46th annual event at Northside Park off Harry L. Drive is filled with new food vendors and entertainment acts this year.

JC Field Days is a large fundraiser for many area organizations, including the JC Elks, Boy Scout troops and local school organizations.

Those groups will fill dozens of booths to raise money all weekend.

"For some of these groups it's their only fundraiser of the year," said Diane Salva, co-organizer of the Johnson City Celebrations Committee, "For others it's their biggest fundraiser of the year. So it's a great way for families to come out, have a good time and support some great organizations."

Johnson City Mayor Greg Deemie said he's been coming to the JC Field Days since he was a young boy, and the turnout has always been a success.

"Even with the weather," Deemie said, "People still come out. It's amazing. It will still be crowded because everyone loves the Johnson City Field Days, it's something that you hardly have to advertise, everybody knows it's coming, Labor Day weekend it's Johnson City Field Days the crowds are always awesome."

The fun begins at 6 p.m. Friday. The event runs from noon to 11 p.m. Saturday through Monday. Fireworks cap off the Field Days, and are scheduled for 9:30 p.m., Monday.
