Candor, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Dominic Sorrentino was just 13-years-old when a tragic accident claimed his life. But his memory lived on Friday night as the Candor community came together to tell stories, console friends and loved ones and remember a boy taken from his family.

Sorrentino was playing in a tree in his backyard last week when a branch snapped, sending him to the ground with a broken neck and into cardiac arrest.

Both his father and EMS crews performed CPR but were unsuccessful.

For those at the vigil, they remember a fun-loving boy who wasn't afraid to get into a little trouble, but also someone who did well in school and loved his family and sports.

"When there was this kid from Groton, he was like 325 pounds. He was running after me and Dom closedlined him, or I did and Dom got his knees. So it was pretty funny," said Anthony Hatch, one of Sorrentino's friends and teammates.

Sorrentino's old football helmet was filled with cards of support for the family.
