Report: Boscov's Plans to Stop Selling Electronics and Major Appliances

(WBNG Binghamton) Boscov's department stores has announced it will stop selling electronics and major appliances by the end of this year.

Jim Boscov, the company's vice chairman, said while the electronic and appliance business is being phased out, stores will continue providing service to customers who purchased these items.

Boscov said a circular announcing the change to customers will be sent out Nov. 22,

The company doesn't expect to lose any jobs due to the change, according to Boscov.

Despite the loss, Boscov said several expansions are being made, including bedding and furniture. The company is also introducing Bombay Shoppes to customers.

Boscov said the changes are based on the preferences of the store's customers.
