Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) The City of Binghamton has issued a State of Emergency effective as of 4 p.m. Monday.
According to the media release:
State of Emergency in City: The City is calling a State of Emergency effective at 4 p.m. Monday, October 29th, 2012. City Hall is closing Monday at 3 p.m. and intends to open Tuesday at 10 a.m unless otherwise announced.
· No Evacuations Planned: The City currently does not anticipate evacuating any areas. Citizens are advised to stay in their homes.
· Stay Away from Potentially Hazardous Objects: Citizens should stay away from tree branches and/or anything else that might fall in the storm. Citizens also should be sure to stay away from downed power lines.
· Downed Power Lines: To report downed power lines within the City, please call DPW Dispatch at (607) 772-7020 and to report general issues involving downed power lines, please call NYSEG at 1-800-572-1131.
· Help Your Neighbor: Citizens are asked to help their neighbors prepare for the anticipated rainfall and heavy winds.
· Further Updates: Citizens may refer to the City’s homepage, facebook page and Twitter feed for updates.
