Sayre Borough, PA (WBNG Binghamton) The body of a man was found behind a downtown Sayre bar early Friday morning.

Sayre police have since identified him as Michael Dean Lane Jr., 37, of Athens.

They say a male was found dead at approximately 5:30 a.m. Friday in the 100 block of North Lehigh Avenue.

Neighbors say the man's body was found in closed alley behind a stairwell adjacent to Lehigh Tavern. The second floor of the building is made up of apartments.

Behind Lehigh Tavern is Davenport's Garage.

Warren Davenport said he was shocked to see police next door when he got into work this morning.

"You don't go to work every morning and find a body here," Davenport said. "It's so close, so it is pretty shocking. Especially since you don't know what's going on."

The investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with additional information is asked to call Sayre Police at (570) 888-2233.
