Owego, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Another death is confirmed after two cars collide on Route 434 Friday.

New York State Police say Wendell Strum, 79, of Apalachin was killed when his vehicle collided with another car on Route 434 near the Owego Town Hall.

Investigators say Strum failed to keep the car on the right side of the road.

That's what they say caused his car to crash head-on into another car, driven by Nancy McQueeney, 49, a bus driver for Owego Apalachin.

Emergency responders had to cut open both vehicles to remove the drivers.

Both drivers were taken to area hospitals and later pronounced dead.

New York State Police would not say whether Strum had a medical condition that may have contributed to the accident.
