Services Set for Fallen Firefighter

Owego, NY (WBNG Binghamton) As many mourn the loss of Owego Fire Capt. Matthew Porcari, funeral arraignments are announced.

Porcari died after the first floor collapsed as he and another firefighter attacked a house fire Monday night at 871 Chamberlain Road in Newark Valley.

Calling hours will be held from noon to 4 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 26 at the Owego Middle School Gymnasium, 3 Sheldon Guile Blvd., Owego. Calling hours are open to the public.

Funeral services begin at 2 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 27 at the Owego Middle School Auditorium. Services are expected to last a little more than an hour.

A reception will follow at the school's cafeteria.

The procession to the burial site will be restricted to family, members of the Owego Fire Department and invited agencies, according to a department news release.

Memorial donations may be made to the Porcari Children Memorial Fund, at the First Niagara Bank at 18 Lake St. in Owego.

Or to the Croton Hose Company No. 3, care of Tom Donovan at 71 Talcott St. in Owego.
