Several arrested at Watkins Glen protest
Watkins Glen, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Several people were arrested during a protest in Watkins Glen over an energy company's plans for expansion, according to CBS affiliate, WENY.
The protest Monday began calmly with protesters holding up signs in disagreement with L.P.G. storage on Seneca Lake.
Some took to what they called acts of civil disobedience earlier in the day, getting arrested for trespassing and linking arms on the U.S. Salt property-owned Inergy Midstream, according to WENY.
Through heavy snow, demonstrators later took to the streets of Watkins Glen, marching and chanting phrases like "wine, not brine."
Though hundreds came out in force against L.P.G. storage, some feel there is no need to worry about the impacts.
Those arrested are scheduled to appear in the town of Reading Court, and could face jail time or fines, according to WENY.
