K-9 "Ozzie" helps in first drug arrest

Village of Walton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A K-9 just two days out of the narcotics detention school helped in his first drug related arrest.

Delaware County deputies assisted the Walton Police Department in a traffic stop on Sunday.

Police said they saw marijuana in the car and called in a newly instituted sheriff's K-9 unit.

During the search, police said they found glassine envelopes containing heroin.

Walton police arrested Troy Terney, 22, of Walton, and Melissa A. Dacey, 21, of Delhi.

Both were charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminally using drug paraphernalia in the second degree.

Police issued them appearance tickets, returnable to the Village of Walton Court.

Ozzie the K-9 was credited is assisting in the arrest.

He graduated from the K9 Narcotics Detection School on Sept. 6
