Smithville Death Ruled Homicide

Smithville, NY (WBNG Binghamton) The death of a Town of Smithville man has been ruled a homicide,

Chenango County Sheriff's Deputies are continuing their search for answers.

The Onondoga County Medical Examiner's Office ruled 31-year-old Chance Howey died as a result of a brain injury caused by a blow to his head in a physical altercation.

Deputies responded to the dispute early Saturday morning outside Seebers Tavern in Smithville Flats.

The Chenango County Sheriff's Office and the Chenango County District Attorney's office will continue their investigation into Howey's death.

Both say criminal charges are pending.
