Town of Maine, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Students at Maine Memorial Elementary School had a musical guest today that carried a heavy message in his tunes.

Jared Campbell is a local artist whose musical focus is anti-bullying messages.

He created "The Blue Project" to give younger students inspiration through song.

"Really I feel like music is such a powerful way to connect especially with kids, and that's what i try to do the most. Just make those connections and have this lesson stick in their mind," Campbell said.

The name of his project intends to remind all students that there will always be blue skies ahead.

"That blue sky is all that potential, and passion, and purpose inside the students to really be somebody great someday," Campbell said. "So it's really about looking past the clouds and looking past the challenges that they face."

The performance was brought to students in early kindergarten through second grade by the Parent-Teacher Association..

They say the message ties into what the students learned after observing Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
