Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) One local business makes big noise in national headlines.

McIntosh is an audio and speaker company based in Binghamton. It was built in the 1950's.

Less than two decades later, the company made it's mark at Woodstock, bringing a new and complete sound to concerts and stadiums across the country.

McIntosh has made approximately 1 million pieces of equipment since 1949. A majority of that gear is still in use, according to company officials.

The company also prides itself on the ability to be completely made in the USA.

Company President Charles Randall says there's no doubt his business could be operated more cheaply if employment and manufacturing were shipped overseas. But he said the quality and reputation would suffer.

"When a person purchases McIntosh, it's a real pride of ownership and knowing it's a company that comes from the U.S.. There aren't too many manufacturers in the U.S.," Randall said.

McIntosh has more than 200 retailers across the United States working to sell and install their products.
