Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A local peace group urges Congress to vote against U.S. military action in Syria.

A Broome County based peace group gathered in front of the Federal building Friday night holding signs that read "Don't Bomb Syria" and "This War is Not in Our Name."

Jim Clune, the organizer of the group, says the protest was planned with all the First Friday foot traffic in mind so more people can hear about their cause.

"To use military action in this instance is like throwing gasoline on a full blazed bonfire," Clune said.

Clune says the group will continue to protest violence in Syria and they will begin to call on local officials to join them.
