Vestal, NY (WBNG Binghamton) New York State assembly woman Claudia Tenney will challenge Congressman Richard Hanna in the Republican primary this June.

Tenney said Hanna has been too liberal during his three year tenure in Congress.

She said the moderate Republican has given in too often to compromises with the Democrats.

Tenney says she would draw a hard line against tax increases, dismantling the new healthcare law, and protecting gun rights.

"I think he's a little out of touch with our constituents here in the area," Tenney said. "I'd just like to see a principled conservative go to Washington, not someone who's really a Republi-crat."

Voters will go to the polls on June 24 to decide who will be the Republican nominee.

If Richard Hanna loses the Republican nomination, he could choose to run on the conservative line in the general election in November.
