Owego, N.Y. (WBNG Binghamton) Tioga County revealed results of a year long study examining tourism in the area.
Throughout 2013, a research company based in Charlotte, North Carolina gathered information on the county.
The goal of the study was to find unique characteristics that will draw more visitors into the community.
"There's lots of small towns out there, but what's the hook? Now some people come here for the casino, some people come for the charming square and the riverfront, and access to the river. When you have water you have tourism," said Berkeley Young, President of Young Strategies, Inc.
The study also found lodging revenue in Tioga County has been steadily declining since the flood hit the area.
It has gone down from over $7 million in 2011 -- to less than $4.7 million last year.
