Owego, NY (WBNG Binghamton) After nearly four months in effect, Tioga County's state of emergency order has officially been lifted.
County Chair Dale Weston made the decision official on January 1, 2012.
The state of emergency was first declared on September 8, 2011, as flood waters rushed into Owego and all low-lying areas of Tioga County.
People were evacuated by cars, boats, and even helicopter in the Village of Nichols.
The emergency orders were renewed as recovery and rebuilding efforts continued.
As for Broome County, its State of Emergency was lifted back on December 16, 2011.
