Townsend Indicted on Attempted Murder Charge

Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A Binghamton man is indicted for attempted murder charges after police said he tried to kill his girlfriend by stabbing her repeatedly.

Ralph Townsend, 53, of Binghamton was given the indictment today in Broome County Grand Jury.

Townsend is charged with attempted murder, criminal possession of a weapon and assault.

Police found Miles August 23 on top of his girlfriend, Eileen Montagano, 38, of Binghamton stabbing her repeatedly. They were forced to break into the apartment at 6 Miles Street, and shot Townsend twice in the back.

The grand jury says he intentionally caused serious injury to her with a knife.
