Springfield, Mo. (WBNG Binghamton) Nearly two years after the shooting of a former Sidney High School student, one of the accused murderers goes to trial.

Kody Ray, 17, was murdered on the front porch of his home in Springfield Missouri in March of 2010. He had just moved to the area from Sidney the year before.

Police said Ray was shot in the head, according to affiliate KOLR,

Prosecutors charged James Duke and Jordan Martin with first degree murder and armed criminal action.

Police report Duke admitted to the shooting.

He is the one currently being tried.
Wednesday, the court heard testimony from a friend of the victim, along with Ray's uncle and a former neighbor.

Witnesses placed Duke at the home on the day and time of the murder.

But the defense stated there are plenty of holes in the testimony.

"We think that the testimony was uncertain not only as to what happened, but the identity of the defendant," said Defense Attorney Dee Wampler.

The trial continues throughout the week.
