Man Shot, Killed; Two Officers Wounded

Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Binghamton Police have not released the name of two officers who were wounded and a man who was killed early Sunday morning.

The officers responded to the Days Inn at 65 Front Street at 2:15 am.

Police had received two separate calls from the hotel.

One call reported a male guest was harassing hotel staff and the other call reported a shot had been fired nearby.

When police arrived they came upon a man at the rear of the building.

According to the Mayor's office, the man started shooting at the officers and they returned fire.

Two officers had what are described as superficial wounds.

Binghamton Police Chief Joe Zikuski said the man who was shot and killed was a pipeline welder.

The City will not provide further information until a media conference scheduled for 1:00 pm Monday.
