(WBNG Binghamton) Weis Markets stated Wednesday the Main Street, Binghamton location and the Harry L. Drive, Johnson City location will close later this summer.

The two stores combined currently have 79 full and part time employees who Weis says will be offered employment at other stores in the area. When the closures are complete, there will be 8 Weis Markets in Broome County.

Dennis Curtin, Director of Public Relations at Weis, issued a statement on behalf of the grocery store.

“We have already informed our store’s associates about this decision and have told them we will be offering them employment in one of our other stores in the region,” said Curtin. “We are committed to our remaining stores in Broome County and will continue to invest in our stores in the region as evidenced by the upcoming remodel of our Front Street store in Binghamton. We would like to thank our loyal customers and look forward to serving them at one of our many other locations in the area.”
