Two arrested for cooking meth with children present

Town of Southport, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Two people were arrested for cooking methamphetamine inside their home in the presence of children.

The Chemung County Sheriff 's Office searched 1778 Pennsylvania Ave. in the town of Southport around 5:30 a.m. Saturday after getting a tip.

Both were arrested at the house.

Raymond H. Buchanan, 38, and Lauren M. Buchanan, 24, were charged with unlawful manufacturing of methamphetamine in the 3rd degree, class D felony, and endangering the
welfare of a child, class A misdemeanor.

Raymond Buchanan was also charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the 2nd degree.

Deputies found a loaded .45 caliber handgun, equipment and ingredients to make methamphetamine and various solvents inside the home.

Both Buchanans were arraigned in Southport Town Court and sent to the Chemung County Jail without bail.

The investigation is ongoing.
