Two hospitalized following crash

Town of Chenango, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A tractor trailer carrying milk crossed the median on Interstate 81 early Monday morning, hitting another vehicle.

The Broome County Sheriff's Office responded to a two-vehicle crash shortly before 6 a.m. Monday.

The crash happened on Interstate-81 North, past Exit 6 (Chenango Bridge).

According to Sgt. Shaun Carnevale, a tractor trailer carrying milk was traveling south when the driver lost control, crossed the median, and continued into the northbound lane, where it struck a car.

The tractor trailer landed on its side and spilled its load of milk onto the road.

The driver of the tractor-trailer had to be extricated from the vehicle.

Both the driver of the car and the driver of the tractor-trailer were conscious when they were taken to the hospital. The extent of their injuries is unknown.

The New York State Department of Transportation closed one lane to traffic while clearing the crash.

Chenango Fire and Chenango Ambulance also assisted on scene.
