Two men arrested for copper theft

Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Binghamton Police arrested two men pushing a shopping cart full of copper wire and metal.

Police credit an observant citizen for calling 911 after seeing two men pushing a shopping cart full of copper and metal scraps in the city.

Police stopped the two men outside of Ben Weitsman & Son Inc on Brandywine Ave.

Thomas Jackson, 24, and Brett Morris, 22, both of Johnson City, are charged with burglary in the third degree.

Jackson and Morris are suspected of stealing from the former City of Binghamton Public Works Garage at 26 Brandywine Avenue.

Both men were arraigned in Binghamton City Court and taken to Broome County Jail.
