Vestal, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Leaders in Vestal project nearly no tax increases for the town's volunteer fire department.

On Tuesday night, the fire department presented a budget that is very much in line with this year's budget, projecting just a third of a percent tax increase.

"We just went out and we did the best we could, and figured out what we had to do, to do a good tax base for the town," said Fire Chief Pat McPherson.

Fire Chief Pat McPherson said his team worked very hard to draft this budget, but that it does mean they will have to do without certain luxuries, like new equipment.

But he said all of the equipment is safe, and is tested frequently.

The Town of Vestal budget will be voted on later this month.
