Vestal, NY (WBNG Binghamton) The Levy on the Vestal Parkway near Subway is overflowing--flooding the rail trail and parts of Vestal.

The Town Square Mall find itself in a bit of trouble. Water is flooding the parking lots and creeping towards the storefronts.

Take-A-Break restaurant and Legacy Pete's diners are both under water, with water reaching the tops of the buildings and heading up towards the traffic lights.

The excess water and levy breach has caused people in parts of vestal to evacuate.

One couple living in their Vestal home since 1954 says they've never seen anything like this and it's easily worse than the 2006 flooding.

"" We waited and finally a fireman came and said we better leave if we want to get out there. We could have stayed at our own risk, but we're staying at the Comfort Inn," says Vestal residents, Walt and Frances Shaughnessy.

" So many people are affected, and people who haven't been effected before," says Vestal resident, Judith Shiner.

The concerns are still great for Vestal.

The Levy has been over topped and only getting worse.

Officials are concerned it will breach.
