Town of Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Although Peoples Neighborhood Bank is proceeding with foreclosure, the Vestal Hills Country Club is open for the season.

The 18-hole golf course opened 1958 and is operated through its membership by a board of directors. It also features a clubhouse, swimming pool and tennis courts.

Board president Jim Blodgett said in recent years Vestal Hills refinanced to make improvements, but its debt and other expenses -- like property taxes -- weighed heavily on the club's finances.

Blodgett said Peoples Neighborhood Bank has been working with Vestal Hills and will look for possible new ownership at an auction. He said the process could take the rest of 2013 to complete.

Blodgett said the club will remain open and membership is strong.

The pro shop has been moved and the dining room was recently renovated. Vestal Hills is also planning to feature entertainment on Fridays.
