(WBNG Binghamton) On December 1, 1949, WNBF broadcast its first television signal in the Twin Tiers.

WNBF TV was renamed WBNG TV when the station was bought by Gateway Communications in 1972.

Today, WBNG is owned by Granite Broadcasting Corporation which is a market leading owner of local media properties.

The company’s operations include broadcast TV affiliates, local cable TV channels, and local online and mobile media properties, collectively reaching over six percent of U.S. television households.

WBNG is the CBS affiliate for the Binghamton market serving the Southern Tier of New York and the Northern Tier of Pennsylvania with news and entertainment programming.

But from all great companies come humble - and often interesting - beginnings.
