Town of Geddes, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Rides, food, concerts and contests, officials promised all of those at this year's New York State Fair.
Gates open on Aug. 22 at the state fairgrounds just outside of Syracuse and runs until Sept. 2, Labor Day.
Officials said planning for each state fair is year round.
The event draws about 900,000 thousand people annually.
About 5 percent come from the Greater Binghamton area.
"We certainly look forward to more attendance. In fact, our attendance records are ahead of last year as far as ticket sales. And we're looking for very high attendance at this years fair, weather permitting," said Darrell Aubertine, the fair's top official.
Aubertine added that new features this year include a chicken doughnut, new rides for children and an exhibit explaining the benefit of restoring Onondaga lake.
Officials said they plan to have more announcements going forward and to "stay tuned."
