Whitney Point, NY (WBNG Binghamton) After two years of construction, the people of Whitey Point have reason to celebrate.

The village blocked off part of Main Street as locals played games and vendors set up shop.

It was all part of celebrating the village's downtown revitalization.

Workers transformed facades to appear as they did 100 years ago.

The process was done thanks to New York state's Restore New York grant and The Main Street Grant program.

Whitney Point Mayor David Downs said this type of celebration is something he hopes to continue.

"In the old days, this block was shut off once and awhile. It's something we want to get back to," said Downs.

Contractors say they recaptured the old-time look as best they could with modern day materials.
