Owego, NY (WBNG Binghamton) With all but 17 absentee ballots counted Tuesday afternoon, Kirk Martin was holding on to a153-vote lead to become the Republican vying for Tioga County District Attorney.
The official winner has not yet been announced. That will come when the Tioga County Board of Elections certifies the ballot.
After more than 240 absentee ballots were counted during the past three days, Martin, a former assistant district attorney in Tioga, held on to a small lead of 153 votes.
As of Tuesday, Martin had 1,462 votes.
His closest opponent, assistant district attorney Adam Schumacher, had 1,309 votes.
Acting District Attorney Irene Graven finished a distant third at 992 votes.
With just 17 votes to count, neither opponent can overtake Martin.
