Town of Union, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A woman is arrested after Broome County deputies say she took a four hour test drive from an auto dealership in the Town of Union.
Deputies say around 4:30 p.m., Laura M. Sturgeon went to the dealership with a friend, where they took a 2009 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck for a test drive.
After two hours, the salesperson dealing with Sturgeon called the Broome County Sheriff’s Office to file a stolen vehicle report.
Deputies found Sturgeon and the vehicle around 8:30 p.m. at a gas station in the Town of Union. After further investigation, they found Sturgeon had used the vehicle for shopping. She told deputies she planned on returning the vehicle.
Sturgeon was charged with one count of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle in the 3rd degree, a class A misdemeanor. She will appear in the Town of Union Court at a later date.
Her friend was not charged.
