By Denise Edmister

Meteorologist Doug Peters graduated from Oswego State University in upstate New York with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Meteorology. Doug is a member of National Weather Association and American Meteorological Society. He holds both the National Weather Association Television Seal of Approval, and the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist Seal of Approval from the American Meteorological Society. His career began at WABG in Greenville, Mississippi. After Greenville, Doug spent 4 years at WAKA in Montgomery, Alabama, and 4 years at WALA in Mobile, Alabama.

Severe weather gets Doug's adrenaline flowing, as storm chasing is one of Doug's hobbies (don't try this at home!). He says one of his most exciting moments was in February of 2000, when he caught up with an F1 tornado (110 mph winds). The twister touched down in Ada, Alabama.
Fortunately, no injuries or deaths were reported with this storm. He covered Hurricane Ivan in September 2004 and Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
He is a snow lover and can't wait for a nice Nor'easter!

Doug is excited to be back in New York and part of the Action News team.
No matter the type of weather, sunny, snowy, or severe, Doug prides himself in providing an accurate and reliable forecast to help keep you and your family safe.
