Town of Chenango, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A local business provides a chance to help local veterans.

McGirk's Irish Pub will be hosting a spaghetti dinner and raffle this Sunday, June 9, to help the Southern Tier Veterans Support Group, an organization that helps veterans returning home with services such as housing and job training.

Included in the auction is a healing stick made by Dan Mulwane, a Vietnam veteran from Afton.

Last year the stick was auctioned for $1,000, and the event raised $10,000 overall.

Organizers hope to bring in $13,000 this year.

"I was overwhelmed with the amount of people who supported this. Even competing restaurants and businesses donated items for auction to support these guys," said McGirk's owner Tim Ward.

There will also be door prizes, a 50-50 raffle, guest bartenders, and all you can eat pasta.

A portion of the pub's sales will also go to support the veteran's group.

McGirk's is located at 1 Kattelville Road in Chenango Bridge.

The event takes place from 3 to 7 p.m.
