Animal Adventure to open for the season

Harpursville, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Animal Adventure will open for its second season on May 23.

As part of a special, four-day opening weekend, the park will be open Friday through Monday, from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

Animal Adventure is located at 85 Martin Hill Rd. in Harpursville.

“We’ve worked hard all off-season to bring in new and exciting animals to continue educating the public, greatly expand the park and enhance our visitor experience,” said Animal Adventure owner Jordan Patch.

Animal Adventure recently announced the addition of Elu, a three-month-old cougar cub. Also making their debut this Friday:

- Tibetan Yaks, Nikki and Patti
- Boomer the Kangaroo’s expanded family, including two females with babies in pouch
- Wallabies
- Muntjac Deer
- Bison Calves
- Prairie Dogs
- Egyptian Fruit Bat, Echo
- Baby Camel, Humphrey
- Rhea eggs, expected to hatch in the coming weeks

In addition to new animals, Animal Adventure will introduce an expanded concession area and gift shop, a new face painter, and launch its 2015 campaign to bring giraffes back to Broome County after 50 years.

“We look forward to building on the success of our first season and creating an even larger paw print in the Southern Tier,” said Patch.

Next month, Animal Adventure plans to open its new North American Animal Trail. This area will be home to many new exhibits, including an alligator bayou, wolves and bison.
