Around the Tiers, Weeders and Readers Volunteer Program

(WBNG Binghamton) The Discovery Center is asking for volunteers to secure the future of the story garden. Adina Pasquale came by to tell us more.

What: The launching of the weeders and readers volunteer program

When: Effective immediately; kick off event April 8, 2013 at 6:30pm at the discovery center

Where: The Discovery Center's story garden 60 Morgan Road. Binghamton, NY 13903

Why: To secure the future of the story garden which was created to promote the literacy and imaginations of children in our community

The Discovery Center's Story Garden is looking for volunteers to join our new " Weeders and Readers Club."

So, if you like to read to children or enjoy planting and gardening, then this is the club for you!

The Discovery Center's Story Garden is a beautiful, fun display of various artistic themes intertwined with flowers and herbs that are all used to promote literacy for children and enhance their imaginations.

We will be having a ton of fun with numerous different events, guest speakers, and preparing The Story Garden for Spring along with much, much more!!

This is a great way to make new friends in the community, while helping our children.

Sign up now to be a part of this great club by filling out a quick and simple application online.

Go to www.thediscoverycenter.org and click on volunteer sign up OR stop in to The Discovery Center to receive a paper copy of the application.

Weeders and Readers will be having a Launch Party to kick off the creation of this new group.

Sign up forms will also be available.

Bring a friend! This fun event will take place on Monday, April 8, 2013 at 6:30PM at The Discovery Center.

Attendance is not mandatory, but will be a great and fun way for you to meet others you may be working with, receive more information about the program, and sign up if you haven't already.

Cake and beverages will be provided.
