Around the Tiers: "Civil War Family Day"

(WBNG Binghamton) Bonnie Duff and Doug Slater share information about "Civil War Family Day" at the Phelps Mansion Museum.

The event will be Sunday, April 27 from 12 PM - 4:30 PM at Phelps Mansion Museum on Court Street in Binghamton.

Several activities will educate visitors about the Civil War.

Featured speaker Gerry Smith, a Broome County Historian will present "Follow the North Star," covering the underground railroad in and around Broome County.

Thirty Civil War re-en-actors will also be in the ballroom and on the lawn.

There will be music featured of the Civil War era, including "Music of the South" performed by Steven Nanni, Julia Grella-O'Connell with MaryLou Muratori on piano. Brenda Cave-James and friends will also sing spirituals.

A fife and drum concert will also be performed.

House tours will follow and food will be provided.

Visitors will be able to meet and greet of the Lincolns and soldiers from the North and South.
