Around the Tiers: The Junior League of Binghamton

Johnson City, NY (WBNG Binghamton) An important night for those interested in joining the junior league of Binghamton is coming up. Lauren Furman and Becky Miller came by to tell us more.

The Membership Drive, and Domestic Violence Awareness Evening runs from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 16 at 475 Main Street, Johnson City, the All Saints Church.

According to the league, the purpose is to present membership information about The Junior League of Binghamton and details concerning the League's commitment to voluntarism.

In addition, to provide an evening of activities designed to assist local families affected by domestic violence.

The following is a statement from the Junior League:

"The Junior League of Binghamton invites any woman over the age of 18 who has an interest in voluntarism, and the desire to make a positive impact on her community, to attend an Information Night on October 16th, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. This meeting will be held in the office of the Junior League at 475 Main Street in Johnson City.
(This office is on the grounds of the All Saints Episcopal Church.)
The Junior League of Binghamton has a proud history of developing several wonderful Southern Tier institutions, either independently or with community partners. These include The Children's Shelter, The Discovery Center of the Southern Tier, The Story Garden, Safety Town, and many others. We are poised to choose and develop our newest initiative, and we are seeking additional members to help achieve our goals.
On the evening of October 16th, members of the Junior League will also take time to acknowledge Domestic Violence Awareness Month by creating gifts for local families affected by domestic violence.
