(WBNG Binghamton) The JCC is offering a 4-week Teen & Adult Beginner Drawing Class starting October 25.

According to a news release:

The classes will be held on Thursday’s from  7 – 8:30pm at the JCC complex, 500 Clubhouse Road in Vestal. Cost to enroll in the classes is $45 (or $40 for JCC member), plus the cost of required supplies listed below.  To register, contact the JCC at 607-724-2417.

Instructor Laurie Laskowski, former owner of The Clayground in Vestal, says that “this class is designed to awaken a potential new passion for an art form while perhaps experiencing a new medium such as pastels or watercolors for the first time.”  She says it “is perfect for the artist who likes to try new things without spending a lot of money in the process. “ Classes will be very informal and participants will be encouraged to learn bits of Manga, Realistic Portrait, Landscape and a little bit of ‘Zentangle’ drawing along with some lettering.

Laskowski is a self-taught artist who grew up in Windsor, NY.  An avid participant in several art forms, she is always trying something new and is eager to share her experiences with others.

Supplies Needed for class are: 1 drawing pad or Bristol paper (heavier weight), 1 package of chalk pastels, 1 package of markers, 1 package of pencil/ eraser combo and 1 package of watercolor colored pencils.  All supplies are available and reasonable priced at Michael’s Craft Store and sold under the brand name “Artist Loft.”
