Binghamton Chamber Announces October Educational Program Schedule

(WBNG Binghamton) The following is a list of programs scheduled by the Greater Binghamton Chamber of Commerce during the month of October.

Tuesday, October 16, 2012: Marcellus Shale Supply Chain Seminar sponsored by BK Energy Services.

This seminar is designed to educate Chamber members about the business opportunities associated with the natural gas industry. Topics include contracting and procurement policies, compliance programs and material and service needs. Attendees will hear first-hand from a local company that has worked successfully with the gas industry in Pennsylvania.

Topics include:

• What is the Marcellus Shale Supply Chain?
• What are the service needs of the natural gas industry?
• How do I “enter” the Marcellus Shale Supply Chain?
• Success Story: BK Energy Services
• Moving New York Forward: The Impact of the Supply Chain on Small Business

This program will be at the Binghamton Club, 83 Front Street, Binghamton, NY 13901 from 7:30 – 10:00 a.m. Cost is FREE to Chamber members and $15 for non-members. Advance registration is required for anyone planning to attend this program.

Wednesday, October 24, 2012: 24th Labor & Employment Law Update hosted by Hinman, Howard & Kattell, LLP

This program will provide an update for employers on the latest decisions and regulations in the areas of labor and employment law. Attorneys from HH&K will present on topics including, but not limited to: Healthcare Act Updates, Workers Compensation, New York labor law, Social Media in the workplace and the EEOC.

This program will be at Traditions at the Glen, 4101 Watson Blvd., Johnson City, NY 13901 from 7:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Cost is $28 Advance Member and $40 Non-member. All participants will receive a take-home binder with materials from the program.

Tuesday, October 30, 2012: Meet the Congressional Candidates Forum

The Chamber will host U.S. Representative Richard Hanna and Daniel Lamb for a discussion on their candidacies for the U.S. House of Representatives in the newly created 22nd district. Hanna currently serves as Representative in the House 24th district, which includes the northern tier of Broome County.  Prior to his candidacy, Lamb has served as a long-time aide to Congressman Maurice Hinchey who will retire at the end of this year.

This program will take place at the Holiday Inn Arena, 8 Hawley Street, Binghamton, NY 13901 from 7:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. Cost is $15 Advance Member and $20 Non-Member.
