Broome County Public Library to Host Pottery Workshops for Youth

(WBNG Binghamton) The Broome County Public Library will hold two pottery workshops for youth on Saturday, October 27:

 Animal Pinch Pots – Ages 6-10 – Saturday, October 27, 1:00pm – Learn simple techniques for making a pinch pot using clay!  Participants will use pottery tools and their hands to form a piece of pottery to resemble the animal of their choice.

 Pre-Columbian Inspired Pottery – Suggested ages 11-15 – Saturday, October 27, 3:00pm – Make a pot using ancient techniques of handbuilding with clay!  Participants will practice some techniques for creating incised or carved designs on their pottery.

The workshops will be led by ceramics artist Brookye Keeney, whose work has included time as a staff artist at Binghamton’s Discovery Center.  Registration is required for both workshops.  For more information, or to register, please contact the Library’s Youth Services Department at 607-778-6456 or youth@bclibrary.info.
