(WBNG Binghamton) The Chenango Arts Council in Norwich on Thursday announced the 2nd Annual Grants for Teachers Pig Roast, Sunday, May 19th, from 3-6 pm on County Road 4 in Oxford.

According to a news release:

Since 2003, the Arts Council has allocated $22,650 directly to teachers throughout Chenango County for use in the classroom for art-related projects that benefit the development of students and specifically address SED standards for the Arts and English Language Arts.

Arts Council Executive Director Victoria Kappel says, “This program was developed in response to teacher requests for project funding that would involve a minimum of red tape and provide maximum impact in the classroom.  We have teachers from all disciplines applying , not just the arts, and the types of projects eligible for funding are limited only to the imagination, invention and creativity of the applicant. The only money available for this program comes from local support and so we are reaching out to the community at a time when classroom needs are great.”

This outside event will feature great food and drink, performances by county school groups, and an opportunity to enjoy the beautiful spring weather while supporting the arts and students in Chenango County.  Tickets are $45 per person in advance and $50 per person the day of the event.  You must be 21 to attend.
