Vestal, NY (WBNG Binghamton) The Jewish Community Center (JCC) will host the annual community Purim Carnival open to everyone on Sunday, March 11, 2012 from 10:30 am – 12:30 noon.
The annual event features free hamantaschen (traditional cookie) and drink with admission.
The cost is $5.00 per child/ $1.00 an adult, with a maximum of $15.00 per family.
The Purim Carnival is a family event and features a variety of fun games and prizes, including inflatables, arts & crafts, balloons and more!
Drinks, bagels and other refreshments are available for purchase. Come dressed in your favorite costume, or as a character from the story of Purim.
Purim is the most festival holiday of the Jewish calendar. Purim marks the celebration of an ancient victory – when Queen Esther, an assimilated Jewish woman, found the courage to risk her life to save the Jewish people from an evil advisor who plotted to destroy the Jews of Shushan.
The event is open to the public. All are welcome. The JCC is located at 500 Clubhouse Road in Vestal. For more information, call 607-724-2417.
The JCC is a not-for-profit agency and beneficiary agency of the United Way and the Greater Binghamton Jewish Federation that serves the community at large regardless of age, race, religion, and sexual orientation. Scholarship assistance is offered to all who qualify as long as funds are available.
