(WBNG Binghamton) Looking for something to give to the troops this holiday season? How about a plate of cookies?

On Sunday, December 9th, Ground Round in Johnson City will be hosting 'Cookies for the Troops,' an event allowing people to come in and donate a tray of cookies or baked goods to be shipped to soldiers stationed overseas for the holidays.

From 12-3pm on Sunday, people can come to the Ground Round in Johnson City with their gift of a tray of cookies or baked goods and Ground Round will give them a $5 gift certificate for their next visit.

This will be taking place in the banquet room at Ground Round. The staff at Ground Round got this idea from a customer who came in to ask if they could use the banquet room for this. The staff decided to get behind the idea and try to bring as much awareness to this event to help a solider receive a little piece of home during the holidays.

For more information, you can call the restaurant at 607-231-2020, or look for details on the Facebook page at Ground Round / JC.
